Joseph Stalin wrote: "A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic." Everyday we see this principle illustrated in the news—we’re inundated with numbers, numbers, “us” and “them”—and it’s not until we hear an actual story, the tale of one person’s Loss or Love or Courage or Struggle, that we really get it. A single story provides a window into another person’s life, access and insight into something that may be strange or foreign in its particulars, but universal and compelling in its meaning.
It is our mission at 2nd Story to create the spaces where stories can be shared and connections can be made. We honestly believe that Stories Can Change the World, and we handcraft each and every one of our events, classes, collaborations, stories, workshops—everything we do—with that concept in mind.
This work is important. This work is valuable. In our increasingly technological world, we create experiences that are essentially human, and, to be honest, it’s an expensive proposition. Ticket sales make up only 35% of our annual budget, so we can't get it done without your support. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution of any amount. We will only be able to continue the work that we do with the generous support of individuals like you.
