Parking
There is an open air parking lot on California and Melrose Ave. The lot is one half block north from the main entrance
Public transit
Michelle’s Ballroom is on the northwest corner of California and Belmont.
Both the 93 and 77 buses stop at the intersection, across the street from the venue.
The closest train stop is the Logan Square blue line. It is a 25+ minute walk directly from the train stop, or the 93 bus runs from the train to the venue.

Drop off points
Best drop off points are either on Elston on the northeast (northbound) corner of Elston and Belmont, or on California on the southwest (southbound) corner of California and Belmont.
The 93 bus also stops at California and Belmont.Dropping off directly in front of the doors is possible, but may be very difficult due to the heavy traffic at the intersection.
There is not a curb cut out directly in front of the doors, but there are on each corner of the block.
Entrance
The main entrance to Michelle’s Ballroom is on Belmont.
There is a half step from the sidewalk to the doors.
The door has one thumb latch handle on the right side. There is no automatic door opener.
There is a separate wheelchair accessible entrance on the side of the building. Please reach out to 2nd Story in advance if you would like to use this entrance.
Inside
Once inside, the space is all one level. There is a mix of tile and carpet flooring.
You’ll be seated at a large round table with standard height chairs. Each table has 8 standard height chairs.
Chairs have a metal frame with padded seats and backs. The chairs are armless. Please reach out to specially reserve a space for folks with wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids.
There are two single-user, gender non-specific accessible bathrooms right off the main room.
There are additional multi-user, gender-specific bathrooms located down a flight of stairs.
There is also a quiet area available down the stairs.
Accessibility Services
With advance notice, we can provide a text copy of the stories for patrons to follow during the storytelling.
With advance notice, we will do our best to provide an ASL Interpreter.
A designed and plain-text program will be available on 2nd Story website. The plain-text program is compatible with screen readers.
Braille programs can be made available with a one-month notice.
