Stories of Untraveled Paths

Most of us are familiar with that Robert Frost poem: “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by.” But what does that look like, to take the road less traveled?

This season, 2nd Story explores what it means to live a life “on purpose.” For our season opener, Finding Our Way, we’re excited to feature four brand new storytellers, sharing four world premiere stories. These four storytellers all grapple with finding their way in the world, both literally and figuratively. How do we know which path to choose? What happens when we have to take a particular road, whether we wish to or not? And when we do end up on that uncharted path, what it might cost us—or what we might gain—along the way?

I am particularly excited about this show, because we have four storytellers who are totally new to 2nd Story. Our submissions process got derailed by COVID in 2020, and we’ve been working through a backlog of stories that we programmed and had to reschedule, or accepted through auditions and needed time to find a space for. But we finally re-opened our submissions this past fall and were just blown away by the quality (and quantity) of submissions.

Working with these four storytellers has been an incredible joy; they all bring such heart and humor to their stories and it has been a delight to be in a room with these stunning humans.
