Town halls

In addition to the collaboration taking place with the 3-4 partner organizations, we will also be hosting a series of Radical Imagination Town halls to explore curiosities, questions, and concerns surrounding pay equity initiatives.

The Rising Tide Project Town Halls are supported by the Arts Work Fund.

Past Town Halls:

RADICAL IMAGINATION: GETTING YOUR BOARD ON BOARD WITH PAY EQUITY
March 27, 2023

Boards play a critical role in nonprofits of all shapes and sizes. When working in tandem with staff and artists, board members are fierce champions helping to usher in important change. Yet, even our strongest champions sometimes need convincing. Our next Radical Imagination Town Hall will center on the impact boards have on pay equity. Hosted by 2nd Story Artistic Director Amanda Delheimer and featuring 2nd Story board members Dana Britto and Jessica Wetmore, join us for an exploration of how board leaders can leverage their seats at the table to effect equitable change. We invite folks at all levels of an organization to join this important conversation.

Radical Imagination: Care For Caregivers
November 7, 2022

The third conversation in our series centered on Care for Caregivers, and explore how arts leaders can foster environments that support arts workers caring for children, aging parents or elders, and loved ones with disabilities or chronic illness. This conversation will be moderated by 2nd Story’s Artistic Director Amanda Delheimer and features parent and small business owner Dana Cruz, writer Sadaf Ferdowsi, and Whitney Hill, Founder and Director of Spork!, a nonprofit for people with cognitive, physical, and non-apparent disabilities & differences.

RADICAL IMAGINATION: PULLING BACK THE CURTAIN ON PAY TRANSPARENCY
April 11, 2022

The second conversation in our series will focus on Pay Transparency, a crucial step in achieving pay equity that can also cause a lot of anxiety and trepidation. Join 2nd Story and guests in discussion about what pay transparency means, how it can look, and what it can do for individuals and organizations, freelancers and staff.

RADICAL IMAGINATION: What does it mean to thrive?
January 25, 2022

As our industry continues to grapple with pay equity initiatives, this first town hall will center the question–what does it mean to not only live as an arts worker (i.e. an artist, arts administrator, etc.), but to thrive?  What if we could move away from the suffering artist myth? We invite you into an exploration of what it might look like for our industry (and society at large) to move beyond a minimum wage or a living wage and towards a thriving wage.

Join 2nd Story in conversation with pay equity organizer and On Our Team co-founder Elsa Hiltner for a Town Hall-style event where we radically imagine - together - how to move from surviving to thriving.
